 Dialysis refers to a medical process that is performed 4 to 5 times per week to purify the blood of an individual who has failed kidneys. Dialysis is an artificial purification process that is performed on patients who have undergone kidney failure.

This process is possible with the help of a machine known as a dialysis machine. This machine is responsible for separating the waste and the needed substances (like glucose) from the blood. The waste is then drained out of the body, while the needed substances are returned to the patient. The dialysis process can be performed through two methods:

· Hemodialysis

·  Peritoneal dialysis

During hemodialysis, specialized doctors insert a tube into an artery in your arm. A solution containing dialysate is inserted into this tube. The dialysate is a solution of water and a substance called dialysate, which was specially designed for this process.

This solution flows between your blood and the dialysate in the tube. Wastes are removed from the blood, which is then filtered again with clean dialysate and oxygen which gives it its colourless appearance until it returns almost to its original state.
